You’re invited to a Mixed-media Tea Party Challenge!
- We’re celebrating home and hospitality in the November/December 2008 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors®, and we’d like you to join us. Make a piece of mixed-media art that’s in keeping with a tea party theme. The piece may be two- or three-dimensional; it may be one piece, such as a teapot or tray; several pieces, like a place setting; or it may portray a scene. It could represent food, a menu, or an invitation. You may be inspired by some of the artists and articles in this issue, such as Kelli Perkins’ spoons, Diane Taylor’s fabric collage sketches, or the fanciful chairs by Sue Pelletier or Allison Berringer. Or you may choose to rely solely on your imagination. Your piece does not have to have a specific holiday theme, but motifs or colors that evoke harvest, gratitude, and celebrations are encouraged.
Here are the rules:
- Make a mixed-media piece of art that celebrates home and hospitality based on a tea party theme.
- The entire piece (or pieces) and all of its packaging must weigh less than 5 lbs., and fit into a standard shipping/mailing box or padded envelope.
- To be considered for the challenge, send two low-res images of the piece (one of the entire piece and one detail) via email by July 14, 2008, to bdelaney@interweave.com, with the words “Tea Party Challenge” in the subject line.
- You will be notified by email on July 18, 2008, if your piece has been selected. We will also post the names of “winners” on the Editor’s blog (visit quiltingarts.com). If accepted, your artwork must be in our offices no later than August 1, 2008.
If you have questions about the Mixed-media Tea Party Challenge, please contact Barbara Delaney at bdelaney@interweave.com.
Note: By submitting your Mixed-media Tea Party project, you are authorizing Interweave Press LLC to publish your project in upcoming publications and promotional materials, on our website, and in other Interweave e-media.
